What size are my brake rotors? That is a common question we are asked. A lot of people want to know what millimeter their brake rotor is because Volvo shows 3 different sizes and it gets very confusing especially because Volvo dealerships don't talk in those terms. Volvo has a funny way of determining brake size and that is what dealerships use. Volvo's size goes like this, a 15 inch brake system means that a 15 inch wheel is the minimum size wheel that will clear the brake rotors. In other words a 14 inch or smaller wheel will not clear the brake system. Volvo XC90 models have 16 inch, 17 inch and 17.5 inch brakes on the 2003-2014 models. The chart below makes it a bit more clear but you should always include the VIN# during checkout just to be sure.

A practical guide for brake sizes on the 2003-2014 XC90 models is.....

2003-2005 XC90 up to VIN# 144726 (last 6 of VIN) has 16 inch brakes
2005-2009 from VIN 144727 to 512676 (again, last 6 of VIN) has 17.5 (17 1/2 inch) brakes
2009-2014 models from 512677-up VIN has 17 inch brakes.

How many do I order?

When ordering brake pads you need to order 1 set per axle so quantity 1 for the front and 1 for the rear if desired. However Volvo brake rotors are sold as each so you need to order quantity 2 for front and/or 2 for rear.
