The Volvo 780 coupe first appeared at the 1985 International Auto Show in Geneva, Switzerland, before rolling out stateside as a 1987 model. Designed by Marc Deschamps and built by famed Italian manufacturer Carrozzeria Bertone, the car boasted a slightly lower profile that differed from its fellow 700 series models. The rear-wheel drive two-door coupe was powered turbo inline-four and V6 gas engines, as well as a turbodiesel V6, that could be teamed to four-speed automatic or manual transmissions. Production was discontinued following the 1991 model year, though it wasn't until 1997 that a successor appeared in the form of the Volvo C70.
