All-Electric Volvo EX30 SUV Receives Another Significant Honor
The Volvo EX30, a compact all-electric crossover SUV, was recently honored with the prestigious Red Dot "Best of the Best Product Design 2024" award, taking the model's tally to over 20 major awards. This award is intended to recognize excellence in design, based on four basic quality principles: function, seduction, use, and responsibility. The EX30 took home a score of 93/100, with 39 worldwide experts scoring an extremely competitive field.
In a press release, Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo Cars, stated, "The Volvo EX30 embodies Volvo CarsÕ design values in a smaller format and is a showcase in premium Scandinavian design where form follows function. The EX30 shows the lowest carbon footprint of any fully electric Volvo car to date and is designed to be as safe as youÕd expect from a Volvo car. It's packed with cutting edge technology and a perfect fit for todayÕs market as a growing number of car buyers switch to electric cars."
Introducing The Volvo EX30 SUV
While the crossover isn't offered in the US quite yet, dealers are taking reservations (with a $500 fully-refundable deposit) for anticipated summer release. The SUV will be offered in Volvo EX30 and Volvo EX30 Cross Country configurations, with an expected starting MSRP of $34,950 for the standard model. However, since you'll have the chance to customize your model's powertrain, colors, and options, your final cost will vary according to your tastes.
Volvo EX30 Features
As we mentioned earlier, there are two powertrain options. First, there's a single motor extended range electric motor that produces 268 horsepower and teams to rear-wheel drive. A twin-motor performance option pairs to all-wheel drive, and generates 422 horsepower. Both feature a battery than can charge in 8 hours on a home charger, and each will charge in under a half-hour on a DC fast charging station. The EPA hasn't finalized testing yet, so range data is still to be announced.
